Wyclef Jean Considers Running For Haiti Presidency

Wyclef Jean is preparing for the biggest role of his career. According to XXLMag.com, Clef is considering a run at becoming the president of Haiti. The Haiti native informed CNN that he's filled out the proper documentation allowing him to take the necessary steps to run for office.

Clef's been one of Haiti's most well known figures since the Fugees hit big with the score back in 1996. He's also done a lot of charity work through his Yele Haiti Foundation and was one of the first people on the ground to assist in relief efforts after the country's devastating earthquake back in January.

Learning of Wyclef's political aspirations, the Yele organization released a statement in support of Jean's future plans. "Wyclef’s commitment to his homeland and its youth is boundless, and he will remain its greatest supporter regardless of whether he is part of the government moving forward," the statement reads. "At this time, Wyclef Jean has not announced his intent to run for Haitian president.”
